While everyone can train Cooking, not everyone actually does, and then counting in the people who are just too lazy to use their Cooking skill or in too big of a hurry, you have a lot of players to sell food to! If you don’t have Cooking I encourage you to pick it up, it’s a decent way to make gold and you don’t have to farm for meats or fish if you don’t want to because there are plenty of people who do that for you and sell the mats on the Auction House.

Secondary skills are often big gold makers, which may surprise some people since everyone can train them. Food

Crafting food to sell on the Auction House is pretty easy, and like I said earlier if you don’t want to you don’t even have to fish or farm for meats, you can buy them. That being said, your best chances for making gold are selling foods that players really want and often times than not that means selling foods that require spices and dailies to buy the recipes. Imo it’s worth the time to do the dailies to build up a solid list of recipes that are in high demand so that you can maximize your gold potential.

Spices

If on some day you are really strapped for gold you can always consider selling the spices you get from doing dailies on the Auction House. Once they get their Cooking recipes, many players simply stop doing the Cooking dailies and depend on the Auction House for their supply of spices. On the other hand, if you are in need of spices for making food by all means stock up when you see a cheap deal on the Auction House or save them to sell later!

Dailies

I’ve listed dailies in this list because for Cooking they are basically very easy, give you Northern Spices, give you gold for completion, and give you Cooking Awards which will help you earn more gold as you have more and better recipes. There are often times when you are waiting for a group to start or for a raid that you can quickly run out and do a Cooking daily when otherwise you would have simply been sitting in Dalaran doing nothing much.
