Tailoring is a good profession to have to make gold because you can buy all the cloth you need to level it up and craft items right off of the Auction House. If you are a caster there’s also a lot of neat gear you can craft for yourself. I like Tailoring for making gold because you have a lot of choices as to how you go about making gold with it.

There are four good ways to make gold with Tailoring:

Spellthread
Cloth Cooldowns
Gear
Bags

Spellthread

If you don’t know, Spellthread is basically an enchant to legs that tailors create. It is tradeable and works in a similar fashion to an armor kit created by a leatherworker. The best way to go about selling Spellthread is to check and see what is selling on your Auction House. There are some Spellthreads that require faction to be able to purchase the recipe so try to get those patterns as the Spellthread you create from them will likely sell for a higher price and perhaps have a higher demand.

Cloth Cooldowns

If you are really running out of ways to make gold with your Tailoring you should consider burning all of your cloth making cooldowns for cloths like Moonshroud, Spellweave, etc. Once created you can place these cloths up for sale or even save them to craft something to place up for sale later.

Gear

Crafting and selling gear is probably the most complicated and time consuming way to make gold with Tailoring. It requires a lot more thought and Auction House analysis to craft epic quality items and place them up for sale. I encourage you to ensure that you can actually sell an epic in a reasonable time and that the amount you are getting for it is worth it to actually sell. I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen epic items selling for way cheaper than the mats cost on the Auction House to make them.

Bags

Crafting bags for gold is the long time traditional gold making tool of the tailor. It indeed can be a good way to make gold and unless the Auction House is really flooded, bags tend to sell reasonably quick. Don’t forget that lower level bags often sell good, especially Netherweave Bags, as many players are too cheap (or just plain can’t afford) to buy better bags for their twinks.
