This guide is updated for patch 4.0.3a.
This WoW Jewelcrafting Guide will help you level from 1-525.
Jewelcrafting is a great profession to have, the BOP gems that you can make are good and there are a lot of opportunities to make a lot of gold selling the gems and items you make.
Now I'm mainly against gathering professions if you are simply using them to gather to level up another profession (in this case you'd be using Mining). I feel this way because I think that it should be as quick as possible to level up and gathering can take, well it can take days to get the mats you need to level to 450. Now if you can't afford to buy the mats to do without gathering then I suggest you look at this gold guide because you should have the extra gold on your character to be able to level Jewelcrafting without Mining.
Pendant of the Agate Shield must be purchased from a vendor. It can be bought off of Jandia in Freewind Post, Thousand Needles if you are Horde or Neal Allen in Menethil Harbor, Wetlands if you are Alliance.

From here on out you'll be cutting gems instead of crafting items. It doesn't matter what type of gem you cut (Blood Garnets or Deep Peridots, etc), it's only important that you cut ones at the appropriate skill level. To get some of the patterns you'll need to level up you'll want to visit Tatiana (for Alliance) in the Inn in Honor Hold, Hellfire Peninsula or Kalaen (for Horde) in the Inn in Thrallmar, Hellfire Peninsula or another convenient to reach Master or Grand Master Trainer.
| 300-305 | Any Gem Cut Trained at 300 | 1 Gem |
| 305-315 | Any Gem Cut Trained at 305 | 1 Gem |
| 315-325 | Any Gem Cut Trained at 315 | 1 Gem |
| 325-350 | Any Gem Cut Trained at 325 | 1 Gem |
This is the last section of the guide and by now I hope that you have some gold left to buy the rest of your mats. While Jewelcrafting is a cheaper profession to level up at the highest levels I know that it can be a bit expensive still. If you need help with getting the gold to do this section look at this gold guide.
For these last levels use Northrend gems, unless you have some Burning Crusade gems laying around (I know there are some patterns trained at 350 for BC and I'm not referring to these patterns, only the Northrend 350 patterns).
| 350-390 | Any Gem Cut Trained at 350 (and also at 360 once you are level) | 1 Gem |

| 430-450 | Any Meta Gem Cut Trained at 420 | 1 Gem |
450-525
