WoW Cataclysm Fishing and Cooking Guide
This guide is updated for patch 4.0.3a.
This WoW Fishing and Cooking Guide will help you level from 1-525.
I've created this guide with Fishing and Cooking together because imo it makes the best sense to level these together because you'll need a lot of fish for good higher level Cooking recipes. However, you can often buy high level fish on the Auction House but to do that you'll need gold. If you really don't want to fish to 525 then I suggest looking at this gold guide for tips on how to make lots of gold.
To begin, make sure you have a fishing pole and always use any plus fishing gear you have along with lures. This will help to temporarily raise your skill level and help you to catch less junk. You will need to buy a lot of recipes for this guide but they are all easily obtainable and I will tell you where to get them.
For this section you will need to buy the following recipes:
Recipe: Brilliant Smallfish from Tharynn Bouden in Goldshire in Elwynn Forest Alliance or Harn Longcast in Bloodhoof Village, Mulgore (Horde).
Recipe: Longjaw Mud Snapper from Tharynn Bouden in Goldshire in Elwynn Forest (Alliance) or Harn Longcast in Bloodhoof Village in Mulgore (Horde).
Recipe: Bristle Whisker Catfish from Catherine Leland in the Canals in Stormwind (Alliance) or Naal Mistrunner in Thunderbluff (Horde).
Recipe: Mithril Head Trout from Kelsey Yance in Booty Bay in The Cape of Stranglethorn (Horde/Alliance).
Recipe: Filet of Redgill from Kelsey Yance in Booty Bay in The Cape of Stranglethorn (Horde/Alliance).

For this section of the guide you will need to buy the following formulas:
Recipe: Baked Salmon from Vivianna in Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas (Alliance) or Sheendra Tallgrass in Camp Mojache in Feralas (Horde).
Recipe: Blackened Trout from Doba in Orebor Harborage in Zangarmarsh (Alliance and must be neutral or better with Kurenai) or Gambarinka in Zabra'jin in Zangarmarsh (Horde).
Recipe: Feltail Delight from Doba in Orebor Harborage in Zangarmarsh (Alliance and must be neutral or better with Kurenai) or Zurai in Swamprat Post in Zangarmarsh (Horde).
Recipe: Blackened Sporefish from Juno Dufrain in Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh (Alliance/Horde).
Recipe: Golden Fish Sticks from Innkeeper Biribi in Allerian Stronghold in Terokkar Forest (Alliance) or Rungor in Stonebreaker Hold in Terokkar Forest (Horde).

Well if you've fished all you can take and want to buy everything take a look at this gold guide for tips on how to make gold if you can't afford it.
For this section of the guide you'll need to buy two recipes from either Derek Odds in Dalaran (Alliance) or Misensi in Dalaran (Horde) that will cost you 3 Dalaran Cooking Awards each, so make sure you are doing your dailies. You'll have to buy:
Recipe: Snapper Extreme
and
Recipe: Small Feast
Notes: For this section you'll also need Northern Spices and Rhino Meat (which can be found in Sholazar). First you will cook Grilled Bonescale, then Pickled Fangtooth, and then Snapper Extreme. Save all your Glacial Salmon for making the Small Feasts.

For this section of the guide you'll need to buy your recipes with Chef's Awards (from cooking dailies in Stormwind and Orgrimmar) from either Bario Matalli in Stormwind (Alliance) or Shazdar in Orgrimmar (Horde). You'll need to buy:
Recipe: Lightly Fried Lurker or Lurker Lunch
Recipe: Pickled Guppy
Recipe: Delicious Sagefish Tail or Severed Sagefish Head
Recipe: Baked Rockfish (this one will be helpful to have but isn't necessary)
