WoW Cataclysm Mining Guide
This guide is updated for patch 4.0.3a.
This WoW Mining Guide will help you with leveling from 1-525.
Mining is a very popular profession to have because you can make a lot of gold off of it by selling the mats you receive on the Auction House. However, there is a major downside to it: it is very time consuming. Now once you are a 525 miner you'll probably figure out the best places to farm on your server and be able to minimize the time you spend mining and receive the maximum benefits from mining. However, when you are leveling up it can be a lot harder and more time consuming and it is for this reason that I don't recommend that you mine all the way from 1-525 but instead buy ores and smelt when you can. If you really can't afford to buy ores I suggest you look at this gold guide because it will save you a lot of time.
1-65 - Smelt Copper
65-75 - Smelt Tin
75-115 - Smelt Bronze
115-125 - Mine Tin
125-155 - Smelt Iron
155-175 - Mine Iron
175-230 - Smelt Mithril
230-275 - Smelt Thorium
275-325 – Smelt Fel Iron
325-340 – Smelt Adamantite
340-350 – Mine Adamantite
350-375 - Smelt Cobalt
375-400 – Mine Cobalt
400-450 - Mine Saronite
450-475 - Mine Obsidium
475-525 - Mine Elementium
These levels are best done by smelting as they will be cheap and quick to do.
Again, continue smelting here because it's still cheap and will save you time.
Smelt Bronze Bars until you reach 115, at which point I recommend you mine.
For this section simply go the the area highlighted on the map in Hillsbrad Foothills.
Smelt this section from 125 all the way until 155.
Now head off to Feralas to mine for these levels.
Here you will smelt Mithril Bars until 230.
I recommend smelting Thorium Bars for this section because it will save you a lot of time.
Smelt Fel Iron Bars from 275-325 to save yourself a bit of time.
Smelt these levels and then once you hit 340 you'll want to mine.
Follow this simple route in Nagrand until you reach 350.
Smelt Cobalt Bars for 25 skill ups to save yourself a lot of time.
Now head to Zul'Drak to mine for these levels.
Finally, get yourself out to Sholazar Basin and finish off your mining to 450!
Go out to Mount Hyjal to level from 450-475.
You'll have to be level 82 to mine here in Deepholm. If you don't like that because you aren't 82 yet you can either level up or mine in Twilight Highlands. Twilight Highlands is a level 84-85 zone though so you'll have a tough time fighting any mobs you run into
